פרס נובל לשלום היוקרתי לשנת 2022 יוענק לפעיל זכויות האדם אלס ביאליטסקי מבלארוס, זאת לצד ארגון זכויות האדם האוקראיני "המרכז לחירויות האזרח" וארגון זכויות האדם הרוסי "Memorial".
בליאטסקי היה מראשי התנועה הדמוקרטית שנוסדה ברוסיה בשנות השמונים, בשלהי שלטון בריה"מ. ב-1996 ייסד את ארגון להגנה על זכויות האדם זאת בתגובה לשינויים בחוקה שהעניקו לנשיא החדש דאז, אלכסנדר לוקשנקו, סמכויות מפליגות.

בליאטסקי, שנמצא במאסר מזה כשנה ונחשב לאסיר מצפון במדינתו נתן רוח גבית לאופוזיציה במדינה: "הענקת פרס נובל לשלום לפעיל זכויות האדם ביאליצקי היא הכרה בכל העם הבלארוסי שעומד מול המנהיג האוטוריטרי אלכסנדר לוקשנקו", אמר ראש האופוזיציה במדינה.
